6. Flu and Pneumonia Immunisation

Flu Immunisation Day at Rowhedge Surgery

This year there are 2 types of flu vaccine that will be given depending on the age of the patient. For this reason the surgery will have 2 separate dates for the annual flu vaccination.

Those patients aged 65 and under will be vaccinated on: 

 Friday 21st September 2018.    Please attend between 5pm-7pm if you are < 65 years and have one of the following conditions

Who is entitled?

All patients registered with the practice who are 65 years of age or over

Anyone registered with the practice who is 6 months old and under 65 years old with any of the following conditions:

  • Heart Problems (angina or heart attack)
  • Asthma Patients on preventer (steroid) inhalers
  • COPD
  • Kidney Disease
  • Lowered Immunity due to steroid (tablet) medication or chemotherapy
  • Liver disease
  • Diabetes
  • Pregnant women
  • Chronic neurological disease
  • Front line healthcare workers
  • Carers for elderly or disabled patients


The over 65 aged population will be vaccinated in November.

We will update further when a date is arranged.

We would like   patients with surnames beginning with the following letters attend at the times listed below.

09.00 -10.30  A – E

10.30 – 12.00 F – O                                

14.00 – 17.00 P – Z

17.00 – 19.00      Anyone who works or who is unable to attend earlier in the day.

If you cannot attend during the allocated time slots, you are at liberty to attend one of the other slots during the day, and if unable to attend on “flu day” then an individual appointment may be booked after “Flu day.” It would be greatly appreciated if patients attending for their flu jab are appropriately attired and remove any outer clothing before being called down to be vaccinated.

The nurse or doctor will advise you if you are also entitled to a Pneumonia vaccination. (Usually only needed once in a lifetime).

The practice will not be sending our individual letters of invitation again this year for Flu and Pneumonia Immunisation. We will be promoting the day with

  • Posters;

  • Messages on repeat prescription slips;

  • Message on the call board;

  • Text reminders to mobile phones.

  • E mails to those patients who have provided the practice with their e mail address
